National Relocation and Travel Expenses Framework
Application Process
Claims for relocation and excess mileage are managed and processed by your employing Trust. Queries relating to eligibility and the application process should be directed to them in the first instance. Expenses claims must ordinarily be submitted to the Trust within three months of the expenditure being incurred. The maximum sum available is £10,000 over the entirety of your postgraduate training, for up to 8 years reckonable service in any approved training programme, and this is not proportioned for resident doctors working Less Than Full Time.
When applying the first step in to determine your eligibility. The following flowcharts can be used to help determine this:
You should complete and submit the Eligibility Form to your employer prior to committing to any expenditure. This must be submitted to your employing Trust via e-mail. Details are available here.
Once eligibility has been confirmed the expenses claims can be submitted to your Trust and must be received within 3 months of the expenses being incurred. Please ensure you include all supporting receipts/proof of expense when claiming. There is no requirement for the employer to accept responsibility for expenses incurred if the resident doctor does not confirm eligibility for reimbursement in advance.
The process for claiming may vary depending on your employing Trust, so please follow your employer’s local process for submitting your claim. The contact details for Trust Relocation teams are available here: Employer Contact Details.
